Decorative gifts for the home, inspired by The Met collection.
A charming valentine from 1841 informs the decorative detailing on this decoupage plate from John Derian. The original declaration of love, presented in the form of a watercolor-painted lithograph, bears the name of the American publishing firm Turner & Fisher. It was bequeathed to the Museum in 1981.
This artful item was crafted exclusively for The Met by New York City–based designer John Derian, who’s celebrated for his unique decoupage decorations on hand-blown glass plates, trays, bowls, and more.
