Louis Comfort Tiffany (American, 1848–1933) embodied the artistic spirit of America’s Gilded Age. In the early 1890s, he developed a method of blending different colors together in glass while it was in a molten state to achieve subtle effects of shading and texture. This pen recalls an iridescent Favrile glass vase (ca. 1900) with a peacock feather motif, produced by the Tiffany Glass and Decorating Company (American, 1892–1902).
