This stainless steel travel mug features a detail from the spectacularly painted coffin of Khnumnakht (ca. 1850–1750 B.C.), made in Egypt’s Middle Kingdom and housed at The Met. Although Khnumnakht is an unknown individual with the exception of his name, his coffin is remarkably embellished with texts and decorative panels, including a goddess figure on the head end—a rarity before the late Middle Kingdom—and a pair of watchful eyes looking forth into the land of the living.
